A full-length feature film exclusively by students
The viewers of Malaysia early next year will get a taste of visual treat – a full-length movie – to be produced and directed by talented Malaysian students. Probably this is the first time a full-length feature film is being produced and executed entirely by students. Titled Vettaiyaan - Criminal Chaos, the movie is said to have all the aspects a commercial cinema needs to have.
Sources say the action sequences include car chases, scenes shot within a jail etc. However, the team was reluctant to let out more details.
The entire movie will be shot in Malaysia covering most of the exotic locales. Some of the places the crew plans to cover are the Batu caves, Damansara and Kuala Lumpur. They also intend to film around KLCC, the majestic building and one of Malaysia’s biggest attractions. Genting Highlands and the Cameron Highlands are also included. Cinematography will be a highlight of the movie and some new techniques will be used.
The movie, an out-and-out student project, will be produced under the banner MVS production and is being produced by Muthu and Y.B. Huan. Vickneswaran will assist Prasad, the writer-cum-director, and Keyur Doshi will wield the camera. In spite of this being a student project, the movie will be made and finished with some of the best facilities available in the Malaysian film industry. For instance, the film will be edited by one of Malaysia’s top editor who has worked in movies such as Puteri Gunung Ledang and Cermin “Amir”. The re-recording will be done at the Digital Waves studio, which is again a standard facility, used by filmmakers. The film will be brought out in the VCD/DVD format.
Though it is a students’ initiative from KDU College (Damansara), Nirwana, KBU Colleges, and top filmmakers of Malaysia will be guiding them along the way ensuring quality control. Vettaiyaan is sure to be received well and has the potential to topple a few records in Malaysia. We’ll know the results by 2008 and that’s not far.

I am truly happy to see that more and more people are seriously invloved in movie making in the Tamil Language. Keep up the good work and i will definately be there to support this!!! Most importantly good luck…….may you achieve better than what the others in the industry have done so far. The more progressive it becomes more growth for this industry……..
I don’t know if this is what we need. The whole post says nothing about what is the general plot of the story, only what elements they’ve decided to put in. Car chases, exotic locales… that’s all fine, but how about the story? What is it about? I’m looking forward to this, since it’s by our local talent, but I hope that the technical aspects of this film doesn’t overshadow the storytelling aspect of this movie.
Because at the end of the day, it all comes down to the story, and isn’t that what films are supposed to do? Tell good stories in an emotionally involving way?
to my prakash bro who will be acting in this movie…wish u all da best to u n ur team..i will b alwiz there to support u..love u bro…
